Nowadays, the Internet has established itself as a colossal industry, which reunites millions of people who work together around the world and back. But, in order for the revolution to take place, the small group leading the change needs to have a common space where to meet, collaborate and work. Therefore, incubators, accelerators and co-working spaces have emerged to fuel up the new momentum. Eastern Europe has always been looked on as a heaven for both “hackers” and rock star developers. As the first was nested in the poor economic conditions, the second capitalized from the strong technical and science inheritance, established long before the Iron Curtain was shredded. (more…)

Everyone dreams of having a global team, but the reality looks a bit different: Me, tired and hairy… but motivated.
I’m from Argentina, where my team and I founded Wideo.co, a DIY video animation platform. Back in September, we were accepted into the Fall 500 Startups class, so I packed my bags and flew to Mountain View.
I initially missed Buenos Aires, a city is full of life and energy. Mountain View is quieter with not many people in the streets. The quietness does, however, limit distractions and gives you the ability to literally work night and day on your startup. Since my team was in Buenos Aires (along with all of my family and friends), I ended up travelling back and forth for the sake of the team and my mental health :) (more…)

Introducing The New Startup Stay CTO!
January 24th, 2013 | Posted by in Announcements - (0 Comments)As any other startup, many challenges come up after launch. One of our top ones was to find a knowledgeable developer with enough experience to be our Chief Technical Officer.
We never looked for just a “coder”, but instead someone that can bring their own ideas to the table and work together with us (Facundo & Fred) as an integral part of the team.
We recently received an email with subject: “Let’s do this!“. After dozens of interviews, we couldn’t have gotten “luckier”. (more…)
Entrepreneur Visits 29 Countries To Build A World Startup Report
January 22nd, 2013 | Posted by in Experiences | Startup World - (0 Comments)We’re all about entrepreneurs meeting face-to-face. Every month, we get many emails asking to support different startup events, especially those that involve “entrepreneurs on the go” :)
This time, we couldn’t be happier to help a Startup Stay member and founder of CardMunch (sold to LinkedIn), Bowei Gai.
@Bowei, based in San Francisco, is a talented entrepreneur that firmly believes in the power of the on-growing startup ecosystem outside Silicon Valley. To that purpose, last January first, he embarked into a fantastic trip around the world to learn about the startup cultures of 36 cities in 29 countries. He will then report back on his findings by publishing slides, videos and interviews. Bowei will be travelling until September 2013, where the journey finishes in Singapore. (more…)

A Powerful Entrepreneurial Story From Sydney to San Francisco
January 8th, 2013 | Posted by in Experiences | Guest post - (0 Comments)Growing up, I always remember how my grandfather used to tell me: “You never know who you’re going to meet and what it could lead to.” That little anecdote of wisdom couldn’t hold truer when it comes to Startup Stay and the global community of entrepreneurs that it has built.
You have an idea of who you may be meeting, but until you actually sit down and start talking with them, it is still a world of connections and synergies that have yet to be discovered. And in the potentially isolated world of start-up-land, this is sacred oasis of like-minded people.
The day I met Matthew Barnett (British entrepreneur, coming from Sydney, Australia) he ventured out across the sea
to San Francisco to raise some capital for his startup, Vimily. We connected on Startup Stay and decided to meet
for a beer after work and talk about the bold and adventurous world of entrepreneurship, as well as the startups we were both working on. He liked my background in feel-good philanthropy and social enterprise, and I was
interested in hearing more about how his business went about capturing the life stories of loved ones. (more…)
While travelling though South America, I wanted to make sure I took a few minutes to make this short video for you :)
Facundo and I wish you a phenomenal 2013. Have fun tonight and thanks so much for your constant support!
